Tell me: Do you know who God is? Or what should a God be like?  Who is God?

God is He beside Whom there is none worthy of worship – The Ever-Living, The Self-Subsisting and The All-Sustaining. (Ch.3:Vs.3)

God–His Names

EL of the Canaanites
ELOHIM or YAHWEH (JEHOVAH) of the Hebrews
ELAH in the Aramaic language of Jesus Christ
YAZDAN or KHUDA of the Persians
DEUS in Latin
THEOS in Greek
DIEU in French
PRABHU, BHAGWAN or ESHWAR of the Hindus
GOTT in German
GOD in the English language
ALLAH in Arabic ….

Its actually a vey big list, can you search it please, and do share it with me and others; it will be interesting to know all names by which our great & lovely lord is called.

Though God is known by a different name in every other language you must know – He is only ONE.

The Unity of God is the basic reality of the universe.

Allow me to introduce your LORD to you, to tell you about: ‘God, the Exalted’, the almighty, his attributes, his thoughts, his ways, etc… You ARE interested, aren’t you?

I’d prefer to use the word ALLAH from now on because this word Allah is never used for any other being or thing. The names for God found in other languages are all attributive or descriptive and are often used in the plural, but the word “Allah” is never used in the plural. In the absence of a parallel word in the English language, the original name “Allah” has been retained throughout the translation.

Please note: After Jesus (Peace be upon him) passed away, another great prophet was born in Arabia where the language spoken was Arabic. And as revelations were destined to be first understood by the people of Arab, all of them were revealed in the Arabic language. This definitely makes no change in the meaning and understanding of spiritual concepts of God, for God is only One, and his basic commandments brought down by various messengers on different parts of the world have always been the very same.

The Holy Book supports my view:

[Ch. 14: Vs. 5] And We have not sent any Messenger except with the language of his people in order that he might make things clear to them.

So Allah is the Arabic word for God, the Almighty.

Allah (Arabic word for the one God) is He besides Whom there is no god, the Knower of the unseen and the seen. He is the Gracious, the Merciful. He is (The One) God and there is no God beside Him, the Sovereign, the Most Holy, the Source of Peace, the Bestower of Security, the Protector, the Mighty, the Subduer, the Exalted; Holy is God far above that which they associate with Him. He is God, the Creator, the Maker, the Fashioner: His are the most beautiful names. All that is in the heavens and the earth glorifies Him. He is Mighty, the Wise. (Ch.59:Vs.23-25)

The Last Law from the Lord, The last Holy Book of the Prophets describes God:

He is Allah, the One; Allah, the Self-Existing and Besought of all. He begets not, nor is He begotten; and there is none like unto Him. (Qur’an Ch.112:Vs.2-5)

‘He is the Living God. There is no God but He. So pray unto Him, devoting your worship wholly and sincerely to Him. All praise belongs to Allah, the Lord of the worlds.’ (Ch 40: Vs 66)

All praise belongs to Allah (the Arabic word for God) alone, Lord of all the worlds, The Most Gracious, Ever Merciful, Master of the Day of Judgment. (Ch.1:Vs.2-4)

God in the Holy Books:

Do remember: English version of the Arabic Qur’an uses the word ‘We’ whenever God speaks of Himself – it is the Royal Plural commonly used in the Arabic language. So please do not mistake it for an indication of there being several gods. The royal Hindi/Urdu speaking people of Southern part of Asia (Pakistan/India) also refer themselves as ‘Hum’ instead of ‘Main’.

Before I start, here’s another notable point:

If you are not able to understand or submit to Qur’anic teachings (commandments of The Lord), it’s not your fault for it was said: … the knowledge revealed would be of such a high quality that without purification a person would be unable to gain its understudying. The Quran adds: … And none take heed except those gifted with understanding. (3.8)

Well, give it a go… Let’s see where you stand:

59:24. HE is ALLAH (God in Arabic) and there is no god beside HIM, the Sovereign, the Holy One, the Source of peace, the Bestower of security, the Protector, the Mighty, the Subduer, the Exalted. Holy is ALLAH, far above that which they associate with HIM.

He is with you, wheresoever you maybe. (Ch.57:V.5)

64:2. Whatever is in the heavens and whatever is in the earth glorifies ALLAH. HIS is the Kingdom and HIS is the praise, and HE has power over all things.

59:23. HE is ALLAH and there is no god beside HIM, the Knower of the unseen and the seen. HE is the Gracious, the Merciful.

Eyes cannot reach Him but He reaches the eyes. And He is the Incomprehensible, the All-Aware. (Ch6:V.104)

Chapter 59:25: He is Allah, the Creator, the Maker, the Fashioner; His are the most beautiful names. All that is in the heavens and the earth glorifies Him, and He is the Mighty, the Wise.

57:3: …HE gives life and HE causes death, and HE has power over all things.

57: 4: HE is the First and the Last, and the Manifest and the Hidden, and HE has full knowledge of all things.

57: 5: HE it is Who created the heavens and the earth in six periods, then HE settled Himself on the Throne. HE knows what enters the earth and what comes out of it, and what comes down from the heaven and what goes up into it. And HE is with you wheresoever you may be. And ALLAH sees all that you do.

57: 6: …; and to ALLAH are all affairs returned for final judgment.

6: 99: And HE it is Who has produced you from a single soul and there is for you a temporary resort and a permanent abode. WE have explained the Signs in detail for a people who understand.

64: 4: HE created the heavens and the earth with an eternal purpose and HE gave you shape and made your shapes beautiful, and to HIM is the ultimate return.

64: 5: HE knows whatever is in the heavens and the earth, and HE knows what you hide and what you disclose; and ALLAH knows full well all that which is hidden.

6: 96: Verily, it is ALLAH Who causes the grain and the date-stones to sprout. HE brings forth the living from the dead, and HE is the Bringer forth of the dead from the living. That is ALLAH;

64: 3: It is HE Who has created you, but some of you are disbelievers and some of you are believers. And ALLAH sees what you do.

He [God] is to Whom belongs the Kingdom of the heavens and the earth. And He has taken unto Himself no son, and has no partner in the Kingdom, and He has created everything, and has determined its proper measure.

The Holy Quran at 18:110 says… ‘If every ocean became ink for the words of my Lord, surely, the ocean would be exhausted before the words of my Lord were exhausted, even though We brought the like thereof as further help.’ … and I was thinking why am I not able to put down all this attributes here! huh

Oh well, I could never describe Allah to his fullest forms or attributes, it is an absolutely impossible job because HE is Allah, the Exceedingly Compassionate, The Exceedingly Beneficent, The Exceedingly Gracious, The Exceedingly Merciful and The King.

HE is The Holy, The Pure, The Perfect, The Peace, The Source of Peace and Safety, The Guarantor, The Affirming, The Guardian, The Almighty, The Invulnerable and The Honorable. HE is The Magnificent, The One, The Unique, The Unity, The Indivisible, The Eternal, The Absolute, The Self-Sufficient, The Omnipotent and The All Able. He is The Determiner, The Dominant, The Expediter, He Who Brings Forward. He is The Delayer, He Who Puts Far Away. He is The One.

HE is The First and The Last, The Manifest and The Evident, The Outer and The Hidden, The Unmanifest, The Inner, The Patron, The Protecting Friend, The Friendly Lord, The Supremely Exalted, The Most High and The Eternally Lovely.

Allah (God) is HE The Good, The Ever Returning, Ever Relenting, The Avenger and The Pardoner, The Effacer, The Forgiver, The Kind, The Pitying and The Owner of all Sovereignty; Alone HE is The Lord of Majesty and Generosity. HE is The Rich, The Independent, The Enricher, The Emancipator, The Withholder, The Shielder, The Defender and The Distressor.

He is The Irresistible, The Compeller, The Lofty, The Majestic, The Supreme, The Creator and The Evolver.

HE is The Fashioner, The Designer of Forms, The Repeatedly Forgiving, The Subduer and The Bestower, The Provider, The Opener, The Victory Giver. Only He is The All Knowing, The Omniscient, The Restrainer, The Straightener, The Extender / Expander and The Abaser.

Only HE is The Exalter, The Giver of Honour and The Giver of Dishonour.

There’s a saying: Nothing is impossible but now I know that this one thing is really really impossible!

I wanted to introduce you to my Lord and your Lord, our, and the one and the only Lord who is the Lord of all the worlds… it doesn’t seem possible though. I will, however, attempt to introduce to you a few of the many attributes of Allah.

HE is The All Hearing, The All Seeing, The Judge and The Arbitrator. HE is The Utterly Just and The Gentle, The Subtly Kind, The All Aware and yet The Forbearing. He is The Indulgent, The Magnificent and yet The Much-Forgiving and The Grateful, The Sublime and The Greatest.

God is called ‘Al-Rahman (The Gracious)’ and ‘Al-Raheem’(The Merciful):

Al’Rahman is one who shows mercy gratuitously and extensively to all creation without regard to effort or work, and Al’Raheem is one who shows mercy in response to, or as a result of, the actions of man but shows it liberally and repeatedly.

God is HE – The Preserver, The Nourisher, The Bringer of Judgment, The Majestic, The Bountiful, The Generous, The Watchful, The Responsive, The Answer.

HE is The Vast, The All-Embracing, The Omnipresent, The Boundless, The Wise and The Loving. Only HE is All-Glorious, The Majestic, The Resurrecter, The Witness, The Truth and The Real. He is The Trustee, The Dependable and The Advocate. He is The Strong, The Firm, The Steadfast and still The Friend, The Patron and Helper of the believer.

Only HE is The All Praiseworthy, The Accounter, The Numberer of All, The Originator, The Producer, The Initiator, The Restorer and The Reinstater – Who Brings Back All at an appointed time.

He alone is The Giver of Life, The Destroyer and The Bringer of Death. Only HE is The ever-Living, The Subsisting, The Guardian, The Perceiver, The Finder and The Unfailing, The Illustrious.

He is The Harmer, The Afflictor, The Propitious, The Benefactor, The Source of Good, The Light, The Guide, The Way, The Incomparable, The Unattainable, The Immutable, The Infinite, The Everlasting and The Heir, The Inheritor of All, The Guide to the Right Path, He is The Timeless, The Patient.

Now we know why this verse was revealed…!

“…And if all the trees that are in the earth were pens, and the ocean – seven more oceans to replenish it – were ink, the words of Allah would not be exhausted. Surely, Allah is Mighty, Wise.” The Holy Quran 31:27- 28

One could never describe God to his fullest measure. Why don’t we have a competition to see who describes the lord in the most beautiful, best way? What say?

These days, concept of God and genuine understanding of monotheism are under fire.

Christians have written a lot about God, but, whatever genuine account they have given is about the true and the living God of Islam and not of a dead, crucified or resurrected God. I can declare it with fullest confidence that whoever, will attempt to write about the attributes of God, his or her hand or track of thoughts will be automatically come to the God of Islam. This is because each and every particle of our universe gives testimony of this God and the imprint of this God of Islam is found in absolutely every human heart and conscience. So, whenever humans endeavor to find God, they are lead to the concepts of Islam. This also is indeed an amazing miracle.

Further in the Holy Qur’an, God says:

Chapter 7:157: … My mercy encompasses all things…

He is with you, wheresoever you maybe. (Ch.57:V.5)

A great verse: ‘…I am closer to him (man) than even his Jugular vein. (Ch.50:V.17)

(Man refers to Mankind)

And when My servants ask thee about Me, say: I am near. I answer the prayer of the supplicant when he prays to Me. So they should hearken to Me and believe in Me, that they may follow the right way. (Ch.2:V.187)

Every one of His creatures has the capacity to establish, maintain and strengthen communion with Him. Your Lord has said: Call on Me; I will respond to you. (Ch.40:V.61)

And believe me when I say, ~“*God is a friend of the believers*”~

Even if an atheist addresses God and says: ‘O Lord, I want to know you!’ I am sure He, the majestic one, will guide the atheist to Himself. If you are one, give it a try now. Loose no time.

Put your trust in the One Who is Everlasting and is the Source of life, He dies not, and glorify Him with His praise. He is fully aware of the errors of His servants. (Ch.25:V.59)

And Allah says@ 18:89: But as for him who believes and acts righteously, he will have a good reward with his Lord, and We too shall speak to him easy words of Our Command’.

Yes, our God speaks… 🙂

God talks to whoever he pleases… He could be talking to you tomorrow.

Just remember Him (Allah) while standing, sitting, and lying, and ponder over the creation of the heavens and the earth: “Our Lord, Thou hast not created this in vain; nay, Holy art Thou… (Ch.3:Vs.191-192)

See the simple condition above to converse with Him: You gotto be believe in Him and act righteously and God will speak to you in easy words that you can understand. His ways are all so amazing and unique and wonderful and… Can’t explain in a full measure! But believe me, it’s all so very easy… yes, it is.

You just have to ‘believe’ from the depth of your heart that there’s someone who is the only lord of all things. Believe that there’s someone who is here, there and everywhere and accept the fact that GOD IS ONE. Worship that One God with all your heart & soul… you’ll have to pass the test of believing though.

Do men think that they will be left alone because they say, ‘We believe’ and that they will not be tried? And we did try those who were before them. So Allah will assuredly know those who are truthful and He will assuredly know the liars. (29:04)

If you really ‘believe’ him – God will guide you to himself as God himself says… As for those who strive to meet us – We will, surely, guide them in Our ways. [Ch. 29: V.s 70]

The nature of most people is not free from obstruction, they are afflicted with the love and greed of the world, pride, arrogance, self-esteem, hypocrisy, self worship, and other moral delinquencies, and are deliberately neglectful of the obligations which are due towards Allah and to His creatures, and purposely turn away from sincerity and fidelity and love of God and devotion to Him, and cut asunder deliberately from God Almighty. On account of all types of obstructions, veils, desires and passions, they are not qualified for the grace of converse with the Divine.

Well, Good Luck anyway.

Our great & lovely Lord treats a righteous person like a friend out of His infinite mercy …as He says: ‘Call me and I will answer you [40:61].’

Sometimes He wishes His own will to prevail by refusing to accept prayers instantly as He has said:

And We will try you with something of fear and hunger, and loss of wealth and lives, and fruits; but give glad tidings to the patient, who, when a misfortune overtakes them, say, ‘Surely, to Allah we belong and to Him shall we return.’ It is these on whom are blessings from their Lord and mercy, and it is these who are rightly guided. (Ch.2:Vs.156-158)

This is because He wishes to increase the believer’s certainty in Him and sometimes He might choose to do according to the will of the believer and increase his rank and out of love for him and advance him along the paths of light…

And He adds: No soul is burdened beyond its capacity. (Ch.2:V.234)

“Our God does countless wonders to his credit but only those witness them who become His with truth and fortitude. He does not reveal His wonders on others who do not believe in His Powers and are not faithful or true to Him. Unfortunate, indeed, is the person who still does not know that he has the Only God who is Master over everything. Our God is our paradise. Our highest enjoyments are in Him. We witnessed Him and found every beauty in Him. This treasure is worth possessing even if one has to sacrifice his life for it.

Just have look at the sky – Observe its vastness, and the clouds and the stars… it’s but just a glimpse of the glory of our almighty lord. Watch the Volcano Erupting or the High water tide Tsunami which will show a small example of the wrath of God…Stare at the calm & beauty of the beautiful Hills & Valleys and serene landscapes and flowers and springs to see the beauty and bounty of the lords… God is everywhere.

The Promised Prophet (as), Hazrath Mirza Ghulam Ahmad, the re-advent of Jesus (as) writes:

I am almost daily honoured with the converse of God Almighty.

[Tell me then, wouldn’t you want anything as such? Submit to the lord today, you might be blessed too.]

He continues…

‘Our God is One, Who is living today as He was living before. And He speaks today as He spoke before and He hears today as heard before. All His attributes are eternal and everlasting. None of His attributes has fallen into disuse or will fall into disuse…. He manifests Himself through His powers and His signs and we can find Him only through Him. He manifests Himself always to the righteous and shows them His powers. That is how He is recognized and that is how the path is recognized which has His approval’. (Book: The Will by The Promised Messiah)

He is with you, wheresoever you maybe. (The Holy Qur’an Ch.57:V.5)

~***~

Say ‘He has no partner… and I am the first of those who submit.’ (Ch6:V164)

Say, ‘My Prayer and my sacrifice and my life and my death are all for one God, the Lord of the worlds; (Ch6:V163)

~***~

The righteous ones of God (are his favorites and they) are simple and straightforward and, in the presence of God Almighty they are like children in the lap of their mother (honestly! And it’s a pleasure beyond measure. I can say it from my self-experience. I certainly do not claim to be perfectly righteous, maybe I’m not, I am a believer though and a doer of good with in my limitations – I know this and a little more or a little less – Only the lord knows better.

Need a few more details to have proofs of existence of God?

Think about it yourself now. …and you’ve got plenty of options to start with – think about them… Good Luck!

And yeah, we’ll discuss the current generation’s understanding about God in the middle part of this ‘Message’.

~***~

‘The task for which God has appointed me, is that I should, by removing the obstacles which have been set up between man and his Maker, re-establish in the hearts of men, love and devotion to God and by making manifest the truth, should put an end to all religious wars and strife, and thus lay the foundation of abiding peace and should acquaint mankind with the spiritual truths which it had forgotten…I should permanently re-establish the bright pure Unity of God, purified from all polytheistic ideas which had entirely disappeared from the hearts of men.’ (Lecture on Islam, p.34, by the Promised Messiah (as))

~***~

Now you might think…. What does God want from us?

The re-advent of Jesus, the Promised Messiah said:

”Listen, O those who can, to what God desires from you. And what He desires is only that you become solely His and do not associate any partners with Him, neither in the heavens nor on the earth.”

God, in the words of the promised prophet:

Our God is that God who is alive even now as He was alive before. He speaks even now as He used to speak before. And even now He hears as He used to hear earlier. It is a false notion that in these times He does hear but does not speak. But He hears and speaks, too.

The Holy Qur’an proves his point here @ 18:89: But as for him who believes and acts righteously, he will have a good reward with his Lord, and We too shall speak to him easy words of Our Command’.

All His Attributes are eternal and everlasting. None of His Attributes is in abeyance, nor will it ever be. He is the One without any associate Who has no son, nor has He any wife. He alone is the peerless Who has no one like Him. And He is the One Who is unique in that none of His Attributes are exclusively possessed by anyone besides Him. He is the One Who has no equal. He is the One Who has no one to share with Him His Attributes. And He is the One no Power of Whose is less than perfect. He is near, though He is far and He is far, though He is near. He is here, there and everywhere.

He can reveal Himself to Ahl-e-Kashf in personification, but He has no body, nor any shape. He is above all. He is on ‘Arsh, but it can’t be said that He is not on the earth. He is the sum total of all Perfect Attributes and He is the Manifestation of every True Praise. He is the source of all that is Good and encompasses all Powers and He is the source of all Beneficences. He is the One to Whom everything returns. He is the Lord of all realms. He possesses every perfection and is free from all defects, imperfections and weakness. It is His sole prerogative that all those who belong to the earth as well as all those who belong to the heavens should worship Him.

As far as He is concerned nothing is impossible for Him. All souls and their potentialities, and all particles and their potentials are His and only His creation. Nothing comes into existence without His agency. As for Him He reveals Himself through His Powers, His Omnipotence and His Signs. We can attain Him only through Him. He always reveals His Person to the righteous and shows them His Omnipotence—and this is the only means by which He is recognized and by which that way is recognized which is favoured by Him. He sees without physical eyes and hears without physical ears and speaks without a physical tongue. Likewise it is His work to bring a thing into existence from nothingness.

Thus are all His Powers. Ignorant is he who denies His Powers. Blind & Foolish is he who has no knowledge of His profound and inconceivable Powers. He can, and does, everything that He intends to… He is unique in His Being, in His Attributes, in His Actions and in His Powers.’ [The Will, p.12-15]

Hmm… there’s no competition to this description of our lord… Me thinks: We’ve lost already!

More from the books of The Promised Messiah:

God is the light of the heavens and the earth. Every light that is visible on the heights or in the valleys, whether in souls or in bodies, whether personal or impersonal, whether apparent or hidden, whether in the mind or outside it, is a bounty of His grace. This is an indication that the general grace of the Lord of the worlds envelopes everything and nothing is deprived of that grace. He is the source of all grace and is the ultimate cause of all lights and is the fountainhead of all mercies. His Being is the support of the universe and is the refuge of all high and low. He it is who brought everything out of nothingness and bestowed upon everything the mantle of being. No other being than Him is in itself present and eternal or is not the recipient of His grace. Earth and heaven, man and animals, stones and trees, souls and bodies, have all come into existence by His grace. (B.A, p. 181, footnote by the Promised Messiah).

All praise belongs to Allah alone, Lord of all the worlds” (Al-Quran 1:2)

The Holy Quran also reveals that it is not just human being but everything in the Universe which extols and glorifies Allah. ……

The seven heavens and the earth and those that are therein extol His glory; and there is not a thing but glorifies Him with His praise; but you understand not their glorification”. (Al-Quran 17:45).

Allah commands us to glorify Him and be of those who prostrate to Him “…glorify thy Lord praising Him, and be of those who prostrate themselves before Him” (Al-Quran 15-99).

There’s so much more for us to know… Understanding our lord is not impossible: I could assure you that this message has the potential to fill you with faith for our Lord Allah, the Almight: Peace.

‘O my people! This life of the world is but a temporary provision; and the Hereafter is certainly the home for permanent stay. [40:40]

Much more about Jesus & his prophecies and Miracles are discussed in the almost all parts from here. He’s the sub-central topic of this ‘The Truth Message’; please read all if you really want to know the truth, only the perfect truth, …enough of rumors about this and other greatly blessed prophets now!

Chapter next: Relation between Man, God & His Messengers ~OR~ The Creator, His creation and His Prophets:
